Sahara
Sahara is a Lebanese restaurant at number 7, at the church gardens end of the High Street. It has been cooking traditional recipes for the neighbourhood for years and opens at 11am every day, staying open until 11pm.
The menu is built around mezze. Start with hummus, tabbouleh, falafel and baba ghanouj, then move on to grills such as shish taouk, chicken marinated and served with garlic sauce, or lamb kebabs. There is also kibbeh, fresh fish and a good choice of vegetarian dishes, with vegan and halal options marked.
You don't have to stay for a full meal. Sahara is one of the few places on the street that serves a pot of fresh mint tea, and the outdoor tables are a good spot to sit with one in the afternoon. There is a full bar too.
It suits a long lunch, a family dinner or a quick bite before an evening match at Lord's. Takeaway can be ordered by calling the restaurant on 020 7722 8555, and tables can be booked by phone or through OpenTable.
