Cinder
Cinder is chef Jake Finn's fire-cooking restaurant at number 5, at the church gardens end of the High Street. Jake cooked at LPM and The Ritz before opening the first Cinder in Belsize Park. St John's Wood was his second, and his team has since opened No. Forty Nine a minute up the road.
Most of the menu is cooked over charcoal in a Josper oven. The food leans Mediterranean, with sharing plates built around seasonal produce. Regulars come back for the crab doughnut and the cedar-plank salmon. The room is compact and modern, and there is a private speakeasy space for up to 24 guests for birthdays and work dinners.
In 2025 Cinder was named in the Good Food Guide's Top 100 Best Local Restaurants, and it holds two AA Rosettes.
Lunch runs every day, and dinner from 5pm (5.30pm on Sundays). It is three minutes' walk from St John's Wood station on the Jubilee line. Tables can be booked online through the restaurant's website, and booking is recommended for dinner and at weekends.
